FTA invites bus manufacturers, transit agency leadership, engineers, and maintenance and procurement to a one-day Bus Maintenance and Bus Testing Peer-to-Peer Exchange at the U.S. Department of Transportation Thursday, October 10, 2019.

The workshop comes in response to interest in the transit industry for more information on bus maintenance due to significant shifts in vehicle types. Moving from traditional diesel buses to vehicles using alternative fuels and low- and no emission technologies requires frontline worker training, new maintenance facilities, and new processes and procedures.

The peer exchange provides an opportunity to improve training of bus maintenance personnel through sharing experiences and ideas among transit vehicle manufacturers (TVMs), transit operators, bus maintenance experts, and others involved in delivering transit vehicles and services. Specifically, participants will learn:

Promising practices that drive positive outcomes for developing and managing bus maintenance programs
Methods and approaches to maintenance programs for all types of buses – diesel, hybrid diesel, compressed natural gas, battery electric, and fuel cell electric
The free workshop, which runs from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m., will be run in partnership with the National Transit Institute.
Registration is required.
